Manual Lymphatic Drainage

Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD) is a specialised therapy which helps to improve the functioning of the lymphatic system.

MLD has an important part to play in the treatment and management of lymphoedema and can also assist in conditions caused by venous insufficiency. Post-surgery swelling can also benefit from MLD (eg joint replacements, liposuction, cosmetic surgery) The treatment is gentle, rhythmic and relaxing to receive and has a calming effect on the nervous system, alleviating stress and releasing chronic tension as well as cleansing the whole system.

It has a positive effect on the immune system, and chronic inflammatory conditions such as sinusitis and arthritis can be improved with the application of MLD.

It helps to eliminate retained fluid associated with swollen ankles, painful breasts, pregnancy, puffy eyes, the menopause and PMT.

Recurrent infections, colds and flu may be prevented by regular treatment and poor general health can show marked signs of improvement.
